Gym Class Heroes: Year 4

Gym class has been described as a boring waste of time by many students at our school. However, for the select few that take gym seriously at our school, this could not be further from the truth. For freshman Marcus Yoon and sophomore Hayley Caskn, gym class is everything. In Yoon’s case, he takes the responsibility of carrying his badminton team to victory.

“I just really need my teammates to stay out of the way. I’m at my best when I have a lot of room to work with,” Yoon said.

Another gym class standout is Caskn. She prides herself on being able to work with teammates as well as her ability to perform under pressure.

“I love playing with my friends and it’s fun to work together,” Caskn said.

While Yoon and Caskn may have differing philosophies, they continue to produce results through effort and perseverance. Yoon pulled out a clutch performance in clutch time by scoring the winning point.

“I called game,” Yoon said.

While Caskn ended up losing she enjoyed the team effort and getting to work hard with her friends in the pursuit of physical excellence. Both of today’s class heroes exemplified exactly why gym class is not just a check box, but a chance to excel in the realm of physical activity.
