Drip or Drown 2026

Troy Olsen

Drip or drown is back and better than ever. Today we are searching for our school’s best dressed students. Style is subjective but we can all agree that some outfits will always beat sweats. Crocs and Birks may be some people’s cup of tea but today we’re looking for those who go all out. Lots of students are drowning but today we are appreciating the drip.

Senior Lanny Hart (Julie Piedrahita)

We spotted our first target senior Alana Hart on the way to the third period. She was dressed out with a chic red bandana, a tan camisole top, a floral skirt and the cherry on top, Cleopatra socks. A perfect combination of bare neutral colors with a popping bandana and fun socks. Most of her outfit was borrowed from her mom, showing you can be thrifty and stylish. She describes her overall look as whimsical.

“[I would describe my look] colorful and kind of messy…. You have fun,” Hart said.

We give Hart a 10/10 on the drippiness scale.

Junior Mandah Bayasgalan (Julie Piedrahita)

Junior Mandah Bayasgalan was target number two. She was rocking a sporty but comfy, brown set, a thrifted striped cardigan and reef flip flops. Her outfit proved you can be comfy but elegant. She describes her overall vibe as sporty but comfortable. Her sleek ponytail and flip flops were perfect final touches on an already gorgeous outfit. Bayasgalan gets a ten from us. Her outfit shows that you can dress sporty without paying an arm and a leg for a cute set.

Freshman Jacqueline McCullough (Julie Piedrahita)

Freshman Jacqueline McCullough takes the cake for best streetwear attire. Her button down from Hollister, black baggy jeans from Zumiez and her shoes explain what they add. She describes her overall aesthetic as streetwear based.

“I’d like to say, I mean, I try to look good…I like to wear what I like,” McCullough said.

McCullough’s style convinces us that we can dress out even on Tuesday. Her classy street style vibe earns an A+ from The Yorktown Sentry.

Senior Rose Spence (Julie Piedrahita)

Our last victim was no other than senior Rose Spence. Spence rocked a colorful camisole and low rise jean shorts, both of which were thrifted, cat tights from a cousin, hot topic leg warmers and high top converse. Her zip up was simply from a summer camp but still tied her entire outfit together. She credits her aesthetic with being alternative but still whimsical and we couldn’t agree more.

“I just like wearing what makes me happy,” Spence said.

We’re sensing a common theme amongst students and we couldn’t agree more. Everyone should dress in what makes them happy rather than conforming to the normalized boring leggings and hoodie look.

Troy Olsen (Julie Piedrahita)

After three student recommendations we just had to interview everyone’s favorite stylish teacher who is none other than English teacher Troy Olsen. When asked how he felt about being nominated he simply states that the students were “correct.” His confidence is contagious. Olsen describes his aesthetic as nothing short of perfection:a perfect example of how students aren’t the only fashion mavens at our school. Olsen’s outfits aren’t restricted by borders, claiming his clothes are from all over the world. Here at The Yorktown Sentry we love some global fashion. Olsen believes in no bias or prejudice when it comes to being chic, except for Old Navy which he is not a fan of.

However, our overall our favorite piece of clothing in the school is no other than The Yorktown Sentry merch!
