Athlete of the Day: Chris Keith

There is no doubt that Washington, D.C. is filled with incredible athletes. One athletic activity that is often forgotten is the sports that occur in Yorktown gym classes. Although everyone looks similar when they walk back from the locker rooms, there is still much apparel that could set people apart. One athlete that has gotten much attention is sophomore Chris Keith. He is dedicated to the class by waking up early every morning to make it by 8:19 a.m. to get in an intense workout. He is dedicated to a period filled with hard work and sweat-dripping activities. Keith makes sure he gets his work done first period and that he can live the life of a student athlete by going to the rest of his classes throughout the school day.

Q: What is the most challenging part of gym class?

A: I think the most challenging part of gym class is dressing out because you don’t want to smell bad for the rest of the day.

Q: What is your favorite activity in gym class?

A: My favorite activity is probably the volleyball unit. It’s the best because it’s the only thing I am good at.

Q: What is your favorite memory of gym class?

A: My favorite memory of gym class is [Coach Bruce] Hanson not remembering my name for the whole year.

Q: In your opinion, what is the worst activity in gym class?

A: Pickleball. No one tried in it.

Q: What is the aspect your teacher talks to you the most about?

A: The gym teachers are really strict about dressing out with your shirt, but as long as I change into some other clothes, I’ll be fine.

Q: Do you like the time of your gym period?

A: Having it first period is probably the worst because you get all sweaty. All throughout the day I feel gross, like I have to take a shower.

Q: What is the worst injury you’ve ever seen in gym?

A: One time my friend ran into another kid and was concussed for a really long time.

Q: What is the most rewarding part of gym class?

A: The most rewarding part of gym class would be knowing that I got a good 45 minutes of fitness.

Q: Are you planning on taking another year of gym class?

A: No, I am doing career center classes next year.
