As the year begins to unwind, it is clear that the class of 2018 is ready to start a new chapter. After four eventful years at Yorktown, seniors begin to reflect back on a noteworthy and undoubtedly memorable section of their life. The quick transition between the ending of an era and the start of a new one can be bittersweet and sentimental for seniors. With less than a month until graduation, seniors were asked to reflect on what they will miss most about Yorktown.

Davis Patterson: “I will miss my good friends and especially Eliza Howard the most from Yorktown.”

Quentin Powers: “I know this sounds pretty cliche but I would definitely have to say I will miss this community the most. I spent a lot of my time going to Yorktown sports games, and it was always something I loved doing because it felt like I was supporting family. I have had a lot of great teachers and met a lot of special people, some of whom I know I will be friends for life. So I would absolutely say that what I will miss most is seeing those people everyday and being part of the Yorktown community. It was an amazing four years and I will always cherish the time I have spent here.”

Natalie Denny: “I am going to miss seeing my supportive friends everyday.”

Haley Knowles: “What I will miss most is seeing all of my classmates everyday, even the people I am not that close with. It will be hard to part ways with so many people that I have gotten used to seeing everyday for the part four past years.”

Mia Lee: “I will miss seeing all my friends that I have grown up with these past four years. It is so sad to think about leaving some friends behind but at the same time, I am ready for a new adventure.”

Olivia Olson: “What I will miss most is how everyone comes together to support and love Yorktown.”

Frances Hamilton: “I will miss my amazing friends the most from Yorktown.”

Will English: “What I miss most about Yorktown is definitely the people I have gotten to know over the years here.”

Julie Brewer: “I will definitely miss the community… and the opportunities I have had from the Yorktown band program the most. It has been a really special program for me over the past four years and it will be sad to let go.”

Michael Lesmez: “I will miss the amazing Yorktown chapter of Best Buddies next year.”

Cate Spirgel: “I will miss walking up the atrium stairs (wheezing the whole way). I will miss sweating on the second floor and shivering uncontrollably on the third. I will also miss my devoted, supportive teachers who introduced me to my passions and strengths. These things make Yorktown special and unique, and I will cling onto these memories long after graduation.”

Owen Marino: “Tv studio with Mr.Sheppard.”

Rebecca Joskow: “I am going to miss sports like tennis and field hockey. I am also going to miss Best Buddies. Best buddies in college doesn’t have the same amazing friendships like here at Yorktown. I am also going to miss hype squad and my friends.”

Nick Pasternak: “I will miss being a part of hype squad and cheering against WL at games.”

Gillian Schiffer: “Seeing my friends every day.”

With the year coming to a close, seniors have come to the scary realization that this has been that last time to ever be interviewed by The Sentry. We hope they can find the strength to push past this and begin their new, invigorating chapter of their life. The Sentry will miss the amazing seniors and wish them successful and happy future.
