Freshman Suzanne Dolan is a winner inside and out of the pool. She focuses on swimming and tennis as she hopes to reach her dream of swimming in college. Dolan placed second in Virginia States for swimming and hopes to make it back for her upcoming years on the swim team.

1.    How did you get into swimming and tennis?

For swimming it was because of Overlee. When I was six, my parents just wanted me to learn how to swim, and then it just took off from there. For tennis, my Grandfather was a big tennis player. He really wanted me to learn how to play tennis, so he got me lessons at the YMCA.

2.    What has been your most memorable moment playing sports?

It was last January, I went to a meet called the Grand Prix. It was in Texas and I got to swim in the same pool as Michael Phelps and Natalie Coughlin, so that was very cool.

3.    Who is your inspiration? Why?

I always really liked [swimmer] Missy Franklin because I thought it was really cool how she has already been to the Olympics and she is not even out of high school yet.

4.    Do you have any interesting hobbies?

When ever I am not swimming or playing tennis, I enjoy doing art.

5.    How was your experience at VA States for swimming?

It was awesome! I really enjoyed the whole team aspect. It was really fun coming in second. I was not expecting to finish like that. The entire [relay] team was not expecting to do that.

6.    Do you want to play sports in college?

Definitely! Most likely swim because I have been doing it longer and it is probably my number one sport. I really like the California colleges such as Stanford and UCLA.

7.    If you were not playing tennis or swimming, what activities/sports would you be most into?

Probably volleyball because I played it last year for Yorktown and I really enjoyed that.

8.    If you had to choose one, tennis or swimming, what would you choose? Why?

Definitely swimming!
