Everyone knows that a meal isn’t complete without the right piece of bread. This fact holds true here at Yorktown High School (YHS), with every meal having a healthy helping of carbs. However, something is a-rye with the bread at our school and not all dough is created equal.
Every school meal in the U.S is required by law to have at yeast one type of grain in it, whether that’s a bagel with breakfast or a breadstick with lunch. This list counts down the best of the best in Yorktown’s Battle Of The Buns.
In sixth place are the ham and cheese sandwich rolls. These rolls are some sour-dough, always stale and lacking a crumb of flavor.
Rolling into fifth place are the hotdog buns. Only available in the Halal meals, these buns dough what they need to do and nothing more.
If you thought the burger buns would be in fourth then you bread my mind. A vital part of many meals here at our school, the burger bun is the cafeteria’s bread and butter.
Coming in at third place is the bagel. Whether you’re loafing around in the morning or just need a quick bite before class, the bagel is all you knead.
Rising to second place is the breadstick. A staple here at our school, it’s pasta’s butter half and is beloved by students. The breadstick wipes the flour with the competition.
Last but not yeast, is the bread roll in first place. It’s a no-grainer why these are so popular here at our school, these buttery loafs go great with anything! If you listen closely you can hear students challah for more.
