Five Albums to Look Forward to This Spring

This spring is poised to be full of exciting new album releases from artists ranging from Charlie Puth to Post Malone. Below are five albums to get excited about.

Number One: Janelle Monáe – Dirty Computer

Janelle Monáe’s upcoming album, Dirty Computer, has been a long time in the works. The critically-acclaimed singer released her most recent album, The Electric Lady, in 2013, and fans have been yearning for more ever since. Over the last five years, Monáe has certainly kept herself occupied nonetheless. She has appeared in award-winning films such as Hidden Figures and Moonlight, and she has released several impressive singles. Judging by the hype surrounding it, as well as the outstanding quality of her recent songs, Dirty Computer will likely be an album that no music lover would want to miss.

Dirty Computer is scheduled to release on April 27th, 2018.

Number Two: Leon Bridges – Good Thing

For fans of soul and alternative music, the name Leon Bridges will likely ring a few bells. The Texas native has been hard at work since his 2015 hit Coming Home, and he recently announced the release date for his upcoming studio album Good Thing. Bridges’ music echoes the sound of artists like Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye, offering a sound that is hard to come by in this era of music. His sound has hit a soft spot with many, earning him a solid cult following over the past several years; now, Good Thing has the potential to turn that cult following into mainstream success.

Good Thing is scheduled to release on May 4th, 2018.

Number Three: Charlie Puth – Volcenotes

Charlie Puth is an artist with a lot to prove. His songs such as See You Again and Marvin Gaye have attained true love-it-or-hate-it status among listeners, and have propelled his name into stardom. Unfortunately for Puth, his debut album, Nine Track Mind, received fairly poor reception from critics and fans alike, and managed to draw further controversy surrounding his music. However, in a courageous second attempt, the We Don’t Talk Anymore singer has announced that he will soon be releasing another album, Volcenotes. Judging by Puth’s popularity, the album will undoubtedly find its way onto the charts, but what the actual quality of the album will be is still anybody’s guess. Volcenotes could stand to legitimize Puth as an artist, or it could end up being the second nail in his coffin; the only way to find out will be to listen.

Volcenotes is scheduled to release on May 11th, 2018.

Number Four: Panic! At the Disco – Pray for the Wicked

Panic! At the Disco, the popular rock band headed by lead singer Brendon Urie, is back at it again. The band behind songs such as This is Gospel and Death of a Bachelor has announced it will be releasing its sixth studio album, Pray for the Wicked, this coming June. Since its formation in 2004, Panic! At the Disco has consistently released songs and projects to warm reception from fans, and the band plans to continue to do so following the return of lead singer Brendon Urie, who recently performed on Broadway as part of the cast of Kinky Boots. For the dedicated fans of Panic! At the Disco and fans of rock music alike, Pray for the Wicked will surely be a must-listen.

Pray for the Wicked releases on June 22nd, 2018.

Number Five: Post Malone – Beerbongs and Bentleys

Perhaps the most anticipated album on this list is Post Malone’s upcoming album Beerbongs and Bentleys. On Tuesday, April 17th, the Dallas rapper revealed the 18-song tracklist, featuring artists such as Nicki Minaj, Swae Lee, G-Eazy, Ty Dolla $ign and YG. The album will feature his hit songs Rockstar and Psycho, as well as the slightly lesser-known Candy Paint. Post Malone has a habit of making hits; his debut album, Stoney, featured the seven-times multi-platinum Congratulations, the five-times multi-platinum White Iverson, the two-times multi-platinum Go Flex and the two-times multi-platinum I Fall Apart. With this in mind, there is no doubt that Beerbongs and Bentleys, already featuring the five-times multi-platinum Rockstar, will feature plenty of additional hits to propel the rising rap star to the top of the charts once again.

Beerbongs and Bentleys is scheduled to release on April 27th, 2018.
