Student body president Caroline Fatemi is a popular face among students and faculty members. Her responsibilities involve planning many activities such as the homecoming dance, homecoming parade, the fall and spring blood drives, toy drives and pep rallies. Caroline has played multiple sports throughout her time in high school, but has focused on soccer. She is interested in attending multiple colleges located in both Virginia and North Carolina and all she does for the school should make her resume stand out amongst those of others.
“I do everything that I can to involve as many people in these activities to promote school spirit and I did two years of Yorktown cross country my sophomore and junior year. I’ve played soccer all my life, and I also play on a house basketball team with all of my friends called ‘The Wrecking Balls,’” Fatemi said.
Fatemi has only been student body president for one year but has been in involved with student government for many.
“I have been involved in student government for as long as I can remember. I did it in elementary school, as well as all three years in middle school. Freshman year through junior year, I served as class treasurer, and this year I’m student body president,” Fatemi said.
Fatemi is currently President of the Girl Up club which focuses on helping girls in developing countries around the world.
“In the Girl Up club, we raise money and awareness for girls in developing countries, and we’ve done a lot for this cause. In fact, in the coming months we’re going to try to plan a charity school dance! Hopefully we can get this off the ground because I know it would be a lot of fun,” Fatemi said.
In addition to student government, Fatemi has always had a passion for soccer. Fatemi has always had a passion for soccer; in fact, she is a member of the varsity girls soccer team. Outside of school it would seem that Fatemi has little free time, yet she makes time for the things she loves to do.
“Outside of school, I play a lot of soccer! I also like to hang out with my friends and travel to new places,” Fatemi said.
This is the last year Fatemi will be able to make an impact at our school. She has had a lot of great memories in high school, but one stood out to her.
“My best memory […] so far is volunteering at the blood drive. Although I didn’t donate blood this year, I did donate in the spring last year. It’s scary getting that much blood drawn, but it was so worth it! Seeing all the students and teachers come into the wrestling room and know that their blood will go to save someone’s life was extremely rewarding, and I’m so glad I could help out at it,” Fatemi said.
Fatemi has done so much for our school and has built up an impressive resume; the way she has balanced extra curricular activities, sports, free time and school work is extremely admirable. She has separated herself from other students by all the work she has done for our school and our community. Fatemi concerns herself with helping others and getting involved and that is why she is a great person to know.
