With “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space,” “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” and countless other songs constantly stuck in our heads, it is hard to forget about Taylor Swift. For senior Stephanie Werner, there was no other option for her One Person Show.
“I’ve always liked Taylor Swift and I thought why not? I’ve always loved her and she’s one of my favorite singers,” said Werner.
Werner has loved Swift since she first heard her on the radio back when she was in third grade. Because she can relate to her songs, Werner had a lot of fun writing about Swift; however, it was not easy. Writing was a challenge because it was hard to make the show a half hour long. However, once she figured out the length, the rest was easy and very enjoyable.
“Writing a show about someone is really fun. It’s all you, and you get to do it by yourself, so it’s really fun after a while,” Werner said.
Werner never doubted her choice of character, but she was not so sure about the performance itself.
“I was mostly just worried about how to do an actual show, and I finally figured it out,” she said.
The thing that helps her get through the process is what Theater Arts teacher Carol Cadby has drilled into her mind.
“Don’t freak out, just do it. People love you, so just do it.”
