Inspired by a novel she read for her English class junior year, Senior Sarah Malks tear-jerkingly performed her One Person Show on the female protagonist, Alejandra, from Cormac McCarthy’s All the Pretty Horses. Malks was immediately attracted to Alejandra’s unpredictability, willfulness and passion; traits that stood out in her memory a year after first reading the book. Malks showed that within a year, she was able to pull together a more-than-effective story of love lost, resentment and obligations inherent in the supposed lot in life one is born into.
