Warren McQueary was sure to take you back to the 17th Century with his take on Alonso Quixano, a fictional Spanish nobleman who reinvents himself under the name Don Quixote de la Mancha. McQueary’s show was a prequel to the book Don Quixote in which Alonso goes through a midlife crisis, yet manages to find his way out by choosing to view the world from a childlike perspective.
Although McQueary had many options for characters for his show, when he thought of Don Quixote, he immediately knew that it was right for him and never doubted his choice of character.
“While the idea of Don Quixote occurred to me last, it immediately became my top choice,” McQueary said. “For a time, I doubted which portion of Quixote’s considerably lengthy tale I would tell. In the end, it turned out to be the portion of his tale that had yet to be written,” he continued.
Through his four years of theater, McQueary has discovered a passion for performing arts and wants to pursue it in the future.
“With luck, I’ll be able to balance a career in theater with a career in engineering. We’ll see how that goes,” McQueary said.
