Courtsy of Netflix

For countless years the National Basketball Association (NBA) has dominated the holiday season by creating Christmas inspired jerseys, having players volunteer at fast food chains and airing entertaining commercials. Although this is fun and exciting for basketball fans, football fans have been left out of the excitement around the holidays. This winter, however, the National Football League (NFL) is making their Christmas debut.

This already exciting day will showcase a star-studded lineup of games including the Kansas City Chiefs taking on the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both teams have risen to the top of their divisions and look to this game to clinch a playoff spot.

The first game of the day isn’t the only one sure to impress the fans. Christmas day will also feature the Houston Texans going up against the Baltimore Ravens. This game will have two of the flashiest young quarterbacks in the NFL, going head to head with Lamar Jackson leading the Ravens against C.J. Stroud for the Texans.

Although the NFL isn’t making special jerseys like the NBA has done in the past, they have planned for a guest appearance from pop singer Beyoncé during the halftime show. Beyoncé has already gained much NFL attention from her Super Bowl 47 half-time performance in 2013. Similar to Super Bowl 47, Beyoncé will be performing during the Chiefs vs. Ravens game. Her presence seems to be a good luck charm, as the Baltimore Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers in their Super Bowl matchup.

These entertaining games will feature another twist. Not only will they be on Christmas day for the first time, they are also being live-streamed on Netflix. With Netflix just recently entering the sports world, they look to gain popularity with one of the most popular sports in America.

With all that being said, this day has something for everyone. The mix of presents, football and pop-star performances are sure to create one of the most entertaining Christmas days America has seen in quite a while. And for those concerned about the NBA games going away, don’t worry, they’re not going anywhere.
