Sophomore Johnas Sadauskas has a variety of hobbies, but most notably, he enjoys playing video games during his free time.
“I like to play a little too much … games like Call of Duty and FIFA,” Sadauskas said.
While outside of the classroom Sadauskas spends his time gaming, inside of the classroom he is locked in on having a successful year as a photographer for The Sentry.
“I want to improve on my photography and start taking real photos instead of just things like photos of the building,” Sadauskas said.
Heading into his second year on staff, Sadauskas understands the importance of the photography section in our newspaper.
“I think that being a photographer, I really get to help outline what a story is going to look like and what it’s going to end up being about,” Sadauskas said
Sadauskas’ connection with The Sentry started way before he even entered high school.
“I’ve known Ms. [Chrissy] Wiedemann [class advisor] almost my whole life, so that’s how I really got introduced to the Sentry,” Sadauskas said.
Although Sadauskas is thrilled to be a member of The Sentry, he is also involved in our school’s community in many different ways. This includes his participation in the Best Buddies program.
“I do something called Best Buddies, which is just like a program where we get to hang out with special education students,” Sadauskas said
Sadauskas is a prominent member of our school’s community, which will help set him up for a very promising second year on staff with The Sentry. We should all look forward to seeing what Sadauskas is capable of throughout the year.

Samson Schneider is an 11th-grade reporter for The Sentry, currently in his third year on the staff. Known for his engaging writing and keen insights, Samson is a valuable member of the team.
In Schneiders mind his name is a mystery. He knows that it has a biblical meaning but he doesn’t know anything past that.
One of the aspects Samson enjoys most about being part of The Sentry is the sense of community. Everybody knows each other and they are all family.
“I love how people from different parts of the school come together,” Schneider said. People come from all perspectives to create the Sentry community.
This diversity enriches their reporting and creates a collaborative environment. Everybody has their own way of writing that makes the environment special.
Outside of school, Samson keeps active by lifting weights and playing football. Schneider is the quarterback for Yorktown’s football team. He also likes to unwind with TV shows and video games and just relax.
Samson’s favorite class at YHS is Advanced Placement (AP) United States History, which he appreciates for its depth and engaging content.
“You get to learn a lot, and it’s really interesting,” Schneider said.
Samson’s passion for reporting and diverse interests make him a standout student at our school. He has certainly filled a gap in our class and we’re glad for him being part of this family.
