As summer ends and Ellie Prantner’s favorite season dwindles out, an exciting senior year awaits her. Entering her third year on The Sentry’s staff, Prantner is excited to be returning to photography.
She began photography in sophomore year thinking it would be a fun task, and quickly fell in love with taking photos.
“I think pictures show the volume of the article,” Prantner says.
Ice hockey plays a significant part in Ellie’s life, and even her dog is named after the famous Washington Capitals player, T.J. Oshie. Hockey comes with hard work, especially while she is in the recruitment process. The stress is high for those important decisions, but she handles it well.
“You can’t compare yourself to anyone else … and you can’t stress about things that are outside of your control,” Prantner said.
She has the help of her hockey community, as some of her best friends came from the sport.
But when she’s not playing hockey, she spends most of her time doing her schoolwork. Pranter has a heavy workload this year taking two challenging Advanced Placement (AP) classes, AP Government and AP Environmental Science.
When asked about her favorite food, she is quick to say Cava or other Greek cuisine. Her go to order is white rice, hummus, tzatziki, half chicken, half falafel, and cucumbers.
“Pickled onions, which may be controversial… but they’re really good” Prantner said.
Unpopular opinion aside, remember to not forget the pita!
After a long day, her favorite hobby is reading books and hopes to get back into literature regularly.
“I used to read a lot more, and now I just never have time, but I feel like reading helps you a lot,” Prantner said.

Green grass, goalposts and cleats on her feet. In her free time, you can find junior Bridget Lohmeyer at a soccer field perfecting her skills. When asked her favorite thing to do outside of school, that’s what her answer was.
Lohmeyer’s biggest inspiration growing up wasn’t a superhero or or professional sports player like many young kids her age. Rather, it was someone quite familiar to her: She looked up to her mom.
“She has worked throughout my whole childhood, and while we were moving as kids, she continued to work and take care of us,” Lohmeyer said.
Lohmeyer has both lived and traveled to some amazing places over the years. In fact, many would be surprised to learn that English is not her first language; she grew up speaking German and Georgian before moving to the United States.
This year in school, Lohmeyer is excited to focus on her writing for The Sentry, as well as her Economics class.
“I’m excited for my Econ class, because I’ve taken it before, but this one’s Advanced Placement (AP), so it will be more challenging,” Lohmeyer said.
As for thoughts on her junior year, which is regarded as one of the most difficult in high school, Lohmeyer hasn’t had too much trouble so far.
“I’m a little stressed out, but it’s been fine so far,” Lohmeyer said.
In the future, Lohmeyer wants to study abroad for college.
“My dream school is Oxford,” Lohmeyer said.
This motivates Lohmeyer every morning as she wants to continue to get good grades and do well junior year. Outside of school, Lohmeyer works at a record store.
“I feel like my music taste is different since I work at a record store so I listen to older music,”Lohmeyer said.
Music taste aside, Lohmeyer is working hard to make this year a great one, and we are lucky to have her contributions in our class.
