The playoffs are officially underway for the Yorktown Boys Varsity Basketball team. They are looking to continue their winning streak, wrapping up the 2023-24 season in the Liberty District Tournament. With a record of 12-10 going into the playoffs, our varsity boys will be looking to capture a few more wins on the back end of their season, and hope to continue their run in the playoffs.
But before we head into the playoffs, let’s take a look back at their season so far.
The season began in November and was off to a rough start. After a few losses, the team began to turn it around, securing wins against Heritage, Oakton and Broad Run. After the turn of the new year, they had another tough stretch, losing to Wakefield and McLean, but they pulled out wins against George C. Marshall and Langley. Their last two games against Washington-Liberty and Herdon resulted in wins that boosted their confidence as they headed into the playoff tournament.
The Patriots secured their first win of the playoffs against Langley with a final score of 77-64. Their next game will be on Wednesday, February 14, with the Wakefield Warriors hosting our Patriots.
These final games will hopefully be a positive end to the season, but our Patriots will need all the support they can get! Mark your calendars and come out to support our boys varsity team and follow us as we report on their progress!
