One of the most popular annual events in America, the Grammy Awards is a series of rewards given to different artists for impressive achievements in the music industry. Presented by the Recording Academy of the United States, the Grammys have taken place for over 60 years in locations nationwide. A handful of live audience members and millions watching at home get to experience live performances, witty hosts and, of course, many unique outfits.
Nowadays, what to wear and how to express themself through their clothing is one of the most critical choices an artist attending the Grammys will make, but the dress code for this event has not always been this diverse. Back when the Grammys first started up, attendees’ attire was plain according to today’s standards. A black tuxedo for men was the most popular option, and women wore many different colors, but relatively the same style dresses, for the special occasion.
Over the past decade or so, the style of dress at the Grammys has seen a massive surge in creativity. Here are some of our favorites (in no particular order) from the most recent show that took place on February 5, 2023.
Beyoncé wore a metallic Gucci dress that received a lot of positive feedback from the general public. The star took home a Grammy for her R&B hit “Cuff it.” Beyonće has never failed to impress at the numerous Grammy events she has attended. This dress was accompanied by bold, embellished sunglasses and chandelier earrings.
The next outfit that caught everyone’s attention was Cardi B’s stand-out blue dress designed by Gaurav Gupta. The gown’s asymmetric shoulder detail combined with rings, bracelets and other jewelry was enough to earn her a spot among our favorites.
Jennifer Lopez arrived at the 2023 Grammys in a sparkling Gucci dress. Her navy and silver crystal gown was definitely a fan favorite. Her appearance was somewhat of an exciting surprise, as she announced she would be attending only a few hours before the event kicked off.
Laverne Cox was also on our list of favorites. Her slick and somewhat reptilian black and brown dress accompanied by gold earrings, necklace and Garo Sparo legging boots made her outfit a popular one.
Nominated for the best dance/electronic recording section, Bebe Rexha received an invitation to the 2023 Grammys for her collaboration with David Guetta on the song, “I’m Good (Blue).” As for her attire, the silk pink Moschino dress and Sophia Webster shoes were an excellent choice.
Heidi Klum received an easy selection on our favorites list with her fringed gold dress by The Blondes. Her chain detail and warm gold tones throughout accompanied by matching bracelets brought her outfit together nicely.
The next outfit that stood out was H.E.R.’s. The ink velvet and the jacquard velvet bias spiral skirt from Bach Mai’s prefall 2023 collection look were certainly a unique one but worked well as the combination of white necklaces and black shades complimented each other well.
Trevor Noah was certainly looking sharp at the 2023 Grammys, as well. The witty comedian made for an excellent host at this year’s event; he cracked jokes wearing black straight-leg pants with a cream-white blazer. The classy bowtie was, of course, a necessity to complete his clean look.
Smokey Robinson had one of the most creative outfits for this year’s Grammys. The matching blue pants and slick blazer made for an easy selection on our favorites list. The 83-year-old proved he still had his swagger with this clean outfit.
