Senior Alex Brandolino is wrapping up his high school career as head editor of The Sentry. At the top position on the Sentry staff, Brandolino has come far from just being a former staff member’s little brother. He heard good things about The Sentry, and his brother told him to join. Another thing about Brandolino’s school life is that his favorite subject is history. When asked who his favorite president was, Brandolino did not hesitate to share.

“Obama. Despite all the criticism and hate, he is very poised,” Brandolino said.

Although it may seem like he enjoys school, one law Brandolino would break if he could get away with it would be to not go to school.

After high school, Brandolino has big plans. He hopes to go to college at “a warm school, not a northern school and then maybe law school.” Choosing from all the places in the world to live in, Brandolino stuck with Cape Cod, Massachusetts.

“Not too busy, great beaches, great food,”  Brandolino said.

Despite the fact that he would live in Cape Cod, he is still a Redskins fan.

“I’ve become more of a Redskins fan over the years … even though they lose all the time,” Brandolino said.

A person’s favorite movie can hint a lot about what type of person they are. For Brandolino, he enjoys movie series the most. His favorite is Star Wars.

“It’s not over after one movie. And Star Wars is just good, except for number seven. Terrible,” Brandolino said.

It is clear that family is very important to Brandolino, because if he received a billion dollars he would help every member of his family out.

“I would probably give money to my family, even my distant family like cousins. And with the rest of it, I would not want too much stuff. A comfortable life,” Brandolino said.

The Sentry is looking forward to its last year with head editor Brandolino and hopes he achieves his goals for the future.

A self described dog enthusiast and hard worker, sophomore Bergen Romness immerses herself in the club and athletic communities. Romness, a veteran on the junior varsity field hockey team, does not hesitate to show her commitment to her passion. Romness goes all out for spirit days; even “boy day”, in which players deck themselves out in the stereotypical boy attire of baseball caps, lacrosse pinnies, and sperries.

When Romness is not preparing for team activities such as spirit days or out on the field honing her skills, she finds herself dealing with the school’s internal deliberations at Executive Board meetings. Romness values her position on Executive Board and shows her selflessness by giving up her free time to help organize events such as Homecoming and fundraisers.

“I’m vice-president of my grade. It’s really fun and I get to contribute and help decide what we’re going to do in our school,” Romness said.

Beyond her meaningful involvement in school life, Romness seemingly has her future laid out for her. Not only is she hoping for a scuba diving trip to 72 degree, sunny Australia in the coming years, but she also has firm hopes on where life will lead her.

“I want to go to UVA, then I want to live in New York,” Romness said.

With high aspirations for college and a career in the Big Apple, Romness wishes she could have gone back in time and given her freshman self some sophomore wisdom.

“Work harder than [you] would think. Don’t just do whatever you want to do,” Romness said.

Romness, despite her retrospective wisdom, makes it clear that she does not take herself too seriously. She would not think twice about trading in her packed schedule and steady work ethic for a nap on the beach anytime.
