If you’re ever having a bad day just look for the girl with an adorable blonde bob, who stands just above five feet and has the best laugh the world has ever seen. Freshman Anna Trainum joined the family that is The Sentry this fall. She will fit in nicely with her utmost love for books and positive change.

“I like books because you get to experience other places and people, and I love music because it’s fun to bop to. I also think anybody who came out of a situation that wasn’t necessarily the greatest and is not sad and is just happy is extremely inspiring. I like people that like to make other people happy,” Trainum said.

She is alone in her house currently, as her older brother left for Charlottesville in August for his first year of college. It seems like she is adjusting just fine.

“I have two more beds that I can sleep in and two more rooms to live in. The only thing is that I can’t get fashion advice from John anymore, but now I have to send him pictures,” Trainum said.

Even so, she seems to still love her room. “My favorite thing about my room is my hammock. I don’t go in it that often but I just like to know that it is there,” Trainum said.

Trainum plans to go to Uganda after her sophomore year of high school, but this summer she spent most of her time in between lanes of chlorinated water.

“I was at the pool for twelve hours one day, which seems kind of lame, but I live at the pool and the people there are like my family. That was just exciting and I loved it,” Trainum said.

It is obvious that writing is something that she is extremely passionate about, and something that she dedicates a lot of time to.

“I just want to get better at writing.  I want to read more books because I know that it will help my academics. I also want to get better at time management since I swim before school and have dance after,” Trainum said.

In ten years she will be twenty four, and has huge dreams for what her life will be like. Trainum dedicates a lot of her brain power and free time to learning and reading about women’s advocacy in society. She is learning how her voice can bring positive change to not only her community, but also the world.

“I’ll be 24. I want to be in an apartment in California, maybe San Francisco. I just want to live with good people.  Hopefully, I’ll be working for a magazine, maybe as an intern.  I want to work somewhere that brings fashion and ideas and opinions together, but more for women than anything else.  I want to do volunteer work for women’s public health in the afternoon as well,” said Trainum.

She is wise beyond her years, hilariously wonderful and can strike up a conversation with just about anyone, about anything.

Trainum is so set on being around people that make other people happy. She should look in the mirror.

Future wife of Harry Styles, senior and Business Manager Grace Stroup chose to be a writer when asked what her dream job would be. Looking into the future, Stroup hopes to not only write but also work in social justice for women. As an avid reader and writer, Stroup’s involvement in The Sentry is no surprise. In addition to The Sentry, if Stroup could start her own club it would be for people to come together and talk about books and music. Ideally this new and improved book club would be over coffee.

“What is better than books, music and coffee,” Stroup said.

Stroup’s passionate attitude does not end with reading and writing; her love for her family is just as strong. If she were blind, books would not be the only thing she would miss seeing.

“[I would miss] My little sister’s smile, she has the best smile. She is so cute,” Stroup said.

When asked about the coolest thing she has ever done, travelling came to mind. Stroup prefers being able to travel alone, a perfect situation for such an adventurous person. Not only has Stroup visited her best friend in Canada alone, she has also already gone on two mission trips to Tanzania. Her coolest and most memorable experience happened while on her second trip.

“For two years, I fundraised to get desks to a village that I visited. The desks were presented to them while I was there. I cried and it was like great,” Stroup said.

Stroup’s passion for helping others and her family are influenced by the two people she would want to be.

“Gigi Hadid because she is beautiful, successful, and smart…. Brains of Emma Watson because she is all for women’s rights and feminism,” Stroup said.

After three amazing years and one more to go on The Sentry staff, the future Mrs. Styles is looking forward to a life filled with coffee, reading, writing, traveling and social justice.
