I’m With Her

Im With Her

I stand with Hillary Clinton because she stands for equality, justice and progression. The fact that Clinton is a woman is just an added bonus. She has risen to the top and established herself as a political super power. Clinton has accomplished enormous feats, for example graduating at the top of her class at Yale Law School and becoming Secretary of State, and will continue to accomplish more. Through funding and starting many social rehabilitation programs such as the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, and serving on the boards of the Arkansas Children’s Hospital Legal Services and the Children’s Defense Fund, she has gained popularity and press.

Many people feel Clinton had her shot as president when she ran in 2008; I beg to differ. Clinton would have been a good president in 2008, but will be a great president in 2016. Clinton was voted one of the top 100 most powerful lawyers in the U.S by The National Law Journal. Her accomplishments and intelligence are undisputable. She has grown and matured over these past seven years since her last presidential campaign. She readjusted her views of gay rights and now supports gay marriage. As the world evolved and grew, so did Clinton. She is more than capable of running the country through her past experience.

Clinton is set apart by her unique political strategies. While other opposing candidates frequently base their campaigns around attracting the public and their support, Clinton marches to the beat of her own drum. In the beginning of her career she started out as a Republican advocate. Over the years her policies have become increasingly more liberal evolving into a final result of Clinton representing the Democratic Party. This being said, Clinton’s fan base extends farther than just Democratic support. Clinton is the modern day Rosie the Riveter–the face of change! Starting from humble beginnings with her father, a factory worker, Clinton wants to see the power shift from the few top earners to the majority of the population.

Her policies on gun control are the strongest and the most pragmatic of any of the presidential candidates, Republican or Democrat. Under the Clinton administration stricter gun policy would be enforced in hopes to reduce gun violence nationwide. School shootings have become normalcies and frequent occurrences. It seems that only Clinton is determined to make a change and speak out against the atrocities occurring. She has worked with the Obama administration, and has the drive and influence to accomplish all she promises and more. While all other candidates openly criticize Obamacare, Clinton realizes the impact and benefits it has given to the American people. She has gone to universities, hospitals, and diners and spoken with ranges of people listening to their stories, worries, and concerns. Instead of tearing down programs such as Obamacare, Clinton is committed to rehabilitating them, working to better programs rather than destroy them. This in itself speaks wonders about her mindset not just as a politician, but as a leader.

As First Lady, Clinton was given control of many programs; for example, in 1993 Bill Clinton asked Hillary to be the chair on the Task Force on National Health Care Reform. She served as a leading advocate for health care coverage and held more power than any First Lady ever has. Clinton was so phenomenal that she was appointed Secretary of State by President Obama soon after.

Clinton is one of the most resilient individuals the U.S has seen. The Republicans and the press in general have been relentless and cruel. Giving Clinton names such as the “nutcracker” and chastising her for mistakes, Clinton has nonetheless continued to hold her head up high. The press is spewing hateful, false information: Clinton did make the mistake of sending confidential files from her personal email, however, Clinton 100 percent took responsibility and is pushing for a release of the emails. It is important to note the emails had not been deemed “classified” until after being sent from Clinton’s personal email. Though this mistake in the Republican’s eyes was seen as irresponsible and horrific. President Obama’s classified email was hacked by Russians earlier last year, so Clinton’s use of personal email could be seen as an intelligence precaution against infiltration.  While others easily criticize Clinton for her decisions in Benghazi, this criticism is without proper knowledge. While it is easy for society to point fingers and blame Clinton for the deaths of the U.S soldiers, it is illogical. When asked to make the decisions of adding for troops for security, Clinton was not properly informed or given full information on the situation.

If the only criticisms of Clinton are her “inability to foretell the future,” or her accident of sending an email from the wrong account, I would say it’s pretty trivial when compared to past presidents we have elected (Nixon). President Clinton would bring forth equality for all people, regardless of their color or sexual orientation, would decrease the disparity between the rich and the poor and would give a voice to the women who have been silenced and oppressed worldwide. If you open your eyes and look past the ugly stereotypes the media has put forth due to their fear of the power and influence Clinton holds, you will see she is the only real choice for this election.
