Topher Wagner and Anna Finley

Topher Wagner and Anna Finley

Out goes one Finley, in comes another! Anna Finley has big shoes to fill from her older sister. However, the budding photographer is up to the task.

“I really like taking pictures and I’ve always been interested in photography” said Finley, when describing her motivation for joining the staff.

With fresh faces like Anna there is no doubt that this could be the best year of The Sentry yet.

To be a good photographer, it is important to find beauty in the little things and find opportunities for photography everywhere you go. Finley certainly demonstrates these traits.

“My friends say that I’m kind of crazy, […] and that I see things that other people don’t. They say I can take pictures that a lot of people wouldn’t really think to take,” said Finley.

Her unique expertise will certainly add to an already superb photography staff.

As well as being a phenomenal photographer, Finley is also an avid Harry Potter fan. If she were stuck on a desert island, she would bring the final movie as a companion. When not drooling over Harry Potter, she could probably be found hanging out with friends, or obviously at Chipotle.

Although she is focusing on taking photos now, Finley’s dream job may be “something with medicine … more the diagnosing side” said Finley.

Even with a career in medicine in mind, Finley’s largest aspiration is to learn teleportation. When it comes to Finley, it seems that nothing is impossible. The determination and force of will to master photography, medicine and possibly superpowers will surely transfer over to the The Sentry this year.

When asked if he was a burrito bowl or simply a burrito from Chipotle, junior Sentry staff member Topher Wagner immediately responded “Oh, totally bowl.”

A bowl is the better choice because “when you get a bowl you can just shake it up.”

Wagner’s favorite class is “definitely The Sentry … [it’s] a great place to get better at my writing while having my articles in the paper.” To him, the “friendships and fun that has come from it” are what makes being a Sentry staff member so enjoyable.

Picking between a Boston creme and a jelly filled donut is always a challenge, but in the end, jelly won out Wagner’s heart.

“You have powder on the outside, it’s kinda lame, then when you bite into it, it’s like BAM, jelly.” said Wagner.

Wagner had a flashback to his younger years when he was asked what color he would dye his hair for a week. As a kid, he had extremely blond hair; he would want to try that out again. He said he would “…want to see like a yellow blond, like really blond.” Wagner also remembers loving monkeys since he was a little kid, so he did not need a moment to think when asked what animal he would be.

Wagner said, “For sure a monkey … I could swing and climb around on trees and stuff all the time!”

Entering into junior year also means Wagner’s hunt for the perfect college has begun.

“I think it’d be cool to go out west, USC or UCLA, one of those colleges.” Said Wagner.

One thing is for sure, Wagner will definitely blend in on the California beaches with his newly dyed bleached-blond hair.
