Last Friday may have been the toughest time of junior Claire Kuwana’s journalism career. Last week, she was peppered with challenging and at times humiliating questions.

When asked who her favorite editor on The Sentry was, Kuwana at first seemed slightly intimidated, fearing that others would be offended, but was able to answer the question nevertheless.

“Maddie McNamee because she was the one who got me to join The Sentry,” Kuwana said.

The embarrassing trend did not end, Kuwana was asked if WIFI or hot water was more important to her. “WIFI…that’s kind of embarrassing to say but I do think it would be WIFI,” Kuwana said.

It was quite shocking when Kuwana was asked who she would never want to be stranded on an island with.

“Donald Trump,” Kuwana said with a comically straight face.

There was no doubt when Kuwana was asked where she would like to live,

“London,” she said.

However if she were given a million dollars, London was not a specific component of the purchase,

“Clothes, I would donate part of it, and then… another house in a different country,” Kuwana said.

Kuwana was asked who her favorite teacher at school was and while at first it seemed that it would go unanswered, she returned with an articulate response.

“Mrs.Eiserman … she was always super enthusiastic… and most of our classes were spent discussing the books,” Kuwana said.

Kuwana was asked if there was a school rule that was lifted what would it be. “Going off campus at lunch as a junior,” Kuwana said.

Kuwana  was asked about last movie she saw, “I honestly think it was Suicide Squad,” Kuwana said.

She would certainly not please Joe Morgenstern of the Wall Street Journal, who gave Suicide Squad a horrific review.

Book fans were not forgotten either, Kuwana was asked what book she was currently reading.

“I am currently reading In Cold Blood for my English class,” Kuwana said.

Sophomore Jack Cline’s favorite class he has ever taken is photography, but that might be subject to change as he starts his first year on The Sentry. He fits the description of a Taurus perfectly: motivated, independent and loyal, particularly when it comes to his dog.

“My favorite breed of dog .. .I would have to say my dog’s breed to stay loyal to my dog, so the cockapoo,” Cline said. And yes, Cline is a dog person.

In addition to being loyal, Cline is also extremely motivated, naming his grandfather as his biggest inspiration.

“Since I’ve gotten older, I have become more interested in being a doctor, and he was a doctor,” Cline said. It is undoubtable that Cline will make a great doctor someday, especially with his greatest talent being staying calm under pressure.

Cline is also a talented athlete and plays on the junior varsity ice hockey team in the winter. If his friends would describe him in three words, they would only add onto that list of talents.

“I would like to think they would say respectful, hopefully…funny and athletic,” Cline said. His love of hockey is obvious both on and off the ice. When asked who he would invite to a dinner party in which anyone could be a guest, Cline’s choices reflected his devotion to the sport.

“Matt Murray, he’s the Pittsburgh Penguins’ goalie, Wayne Gretzky [who has been called the greatest hockey player of all time] and Mark Ruffalo,” Cline said.

Cline seems to really enjoy things that are green, as Greenland was his answer when asked where he would go if he could travel to any place in the world.

“To get away from the business of the East Coast…,” said Cline. Needless to say, let’s hope that Cline does not want to escape this area for too long. Anyone who chooses The Sorcerer’s Stone as their favorite Harry Potter film is bound to be a perfect fit for The Sentry.
