If you are feeling alone this Valentine’s Day, don’t cry. Choose to love yourself instead. Snuggle up by the fire and crack into a good book. Maybe rent a movie. Maybe treat yourself to a heart-shaped pizza from Joe’s Pizza and Pasta on Lee Highway; you can even ask them to write you a nice note if you are feeling down. There’s no reason to waste your day on self-pity if you are not spending it with a significant other.

Sometimes it just feels good to have company, so check yourself out an emotional support dog for the day. They are proven to have therapeutic benefits and are guaranteed to make you feel better. Spending the day with man’s best friend is a great alternative to a traditional romantic holiday. An added bonus is that their fur is great for soaking up tears.

Another highly recommended item for Valentine’s Day is a package of heart-shaped candy. This is an absolute must if you want to celebrate the right way. If you are feeling upset, you can count on these treats to bring back the Valentine’s atmosphere.

Probably the most important thing for you to do is to give yourself Valentine’s cards. These should be sentimental notes that you write to yourself and should be designed to boost your self-esteem. For example, if you think you are funny but no one ever laughs at your jokes, try writing yourself a note about how funny you are.

Make sure that, if you do not have any special plans for Valentine’s Day, you remember to treat yourself instead.
